In a decisive effort to enforce public safety regulations, the Police Area Commander, Sango Area Command, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Oladele, on Tuesday led a multi-agency show-of-force operation across strategic locations in Ota, Ogun State.
The operation involved personnel drawn from several sister security and traffic management agencies, including the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ogun State Security Network (SO-SAFE Corps), National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), and the Amotekun Corps.
The coordinated exercise was aimed at enforcing compliance with an earlier vacate order issued to traders and sellers operating under and around the ongoing construction of the Oju-Ore overhead bridge. The enforcement also focused on clearing the immediate surroundings of the construction site to enhance safety for motorists and pedestrians.
Additionally, the operation sought to address indiscriminate parking by motorists, which authorities identified as a major obstruction to the free flow of traffic along the ever-busy Lagos–Abeokuta Expressway corridor.
Addressing officers and men before the commencement of the exercise, the Area Commander—represented by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Onipanu Division, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Obideyi Ernest A.—charged all participating personnel to conduct themselves with professionalism, discipline, and strict adherence to the rule of law.
In his remarks, the Zonal Commander of TRACE, Ogun West, Commander Ajibade Adekunle, stressed the importance of sustained inter-agency collaboration, noting that synergy among security and traffic management agencies remains crucial to achieving lasting security and traffic order in the state.
Following the briefing, the joint task force moved in convoy to the Oju-Ore under-bridge construction site and the Tollgate axis of the Lagos–Abeokuta Expressway, where the planned enforcement activities were carried out.
Authorities said the show of force underscores the commitment of security and traffic agencies to maintaining public order, ensuring safety around critical infrastructure projects, and guaranteeing smooth vehicular movement within the Ota metropolis.
