Following the launch of “ALAT: The Evolution”, Wema Bank—Nigeria’s oldest indigenous bank, one of its most innovative financial institutions, and the pioneer of Africa’s first fully digital bank, ALAT—has unveiled its 2026 Valentine’s Day campaign tagged “Evolution of Love, powered by Wema Bank.”
Inspired by the “evolution” theme behind the upgraded ALAT app, the campaign is designed to celebrate the diverse forms of love experienced by customers and how these relationships have evolved over time. From self-love and friendship to romantic and family bonds, the initiative redefines Valentine’s Day by going beyond romantic love and creating room for every Wema Bank customer to feel included during the season of love.
The “Evolution of Love” campaign is open to both new and existing Wema Bank customers across four categories: singles (self-love), friends (friendship), married couples, and couples planning to wed in February (romantic love). While gift offerings differ across categories, participation requirements remain the same.
Participants are required to create a Love Goal on the ALAT app and submit a one-minute video on any social media platform, sharing how their love journey has evolved over the years. Successful entries stand a chance to win rewards ranging from cash prizes and spa vouchers to vacations and expense-paid getaways. Notably, one couple getting married in February will receive a special celebrity performance at their wedding, courtesy of Wema Bank.
Speaking on the campaign, Wema Bank’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Moruf Oseni, said love remains central to the bank’s customer-centric philosophy.
“Love is at the heart of delivering truly customer-centric service. As a bank that prides itself on putting customers first, this philosophy is reflected in the thoughtfulness, intentionality and commitment we bring to everything we do at Wema Bank. This year, we chose to celebrate love in all its forms—friends, couples, families, singles and those taking the bold step into marriage—because self-love and shared growth are just as important,” he said.
Oseni added that the bank’s goal is for every customer to feel appreciated this Valentine’s season and beyond.
“For singles and friends, we aim to promote self-love and genuine friendships. For families and married couples, we hope to strengthen bonds by reminding them how far they have come. For couples preparing for marriage, we are adding an extra memorable touch with a special artiste performance. Ultimately, our goal is for every Wema Bank customer to feel loved,” he concluded.
Interested participants are encouraged to post a one-minute video sharing their love journey—featuring their partner where applicable—on any social media platform using #ALATEvolutionofLove, while tagging @alat_ng and @wemabank.
To qualify, customers must activate SAW, the voice-banking virtual assistant on the upgraded ALAT app, create a personal or group goal titled “Love Goal,” fund the goal, and transact with their ALAT or Wema Bank card between February 1 and February 10.
