The Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of schoolchildren, teachers, and host communities across the state.
The State Commandant of the Corps, Mr Adedotun Keshinro, made the declaration on Thursday, 7 May 2026, while addressing teachers and pupils of Guided Path School (GPS) during an educational visit to the Command Headquarters in Alausa, Lagos.
Keshinro stated that the Corps remains committed to strengthening school safety through strategic collaboration with relevant stakeholders under the Safe School Initiative (SSI).
According to him, the NSCDC is determined to sustain effective partnerships aimed at protecting schools and promoting a safe learning environment across Lagos State.
The Command hosted 17 pupils and three teachers from Guided Path School during the field trip, which was organised to expose the students to the duties of the NSCDC, citizenship education, and security awareness.
During the visit, officers of the Corps educated the pupils on school safety and the statutory responsibilities of the NSCDC. The sensitisation sessions were led by the Heads of the Safe School and Legal Units, Assistant Commandants of Corps Helen Gady and Adebimpe Bada.
The pupils were sensitised on the dangers of social vices such as violence, gangsterism, bullying, smoking, cultism, harassment, and assault, with emphasis placed on discipline, responsible conduct, and civic responsibility.
In an interactive session, the teachers and pupils also received clarification on the history, organisational structure, uniforms, and distinct roles of the NSCDC.
Speaking after the exercise, the Director of Guided Path School, Mrs Lasaki Rizqah, expressed appreciation to the Lagos NSCDC Command for the educational experience provided to the pupils.
She commended the officers for enlightening the students on school safety, civic duties, and national security, noting that the visit had significantly improved their understanding of the role of the Corps in society.
The programme forms part of the NSCDC’s ongoing efforts to promote security consciousness and strengthen partnerships with educational institutions across Lagos State.
