The management of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has applauded one of its officers, Muibi Ademola (Bravo 27), for exhibiting rare integrity, professionalism, and discipline by rejecting a ₦20,000 monetary offer from a grateful motorist along the Ago–Ibiwoye axis of Okota, Lagos.
According to a report published in The Nation newspaper on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 (Page 23), the incident occurred when a motorist called Officer Ademola’s attention to a traffic build-up in the area. Demonstrating swift response and a strong sense of duty, the officer immediately proceeded to the location and efficiently restored the flow of traffic.
Impressed by his prompt action, the motorist reportedly offered a cash token of ₦20,000 in appreciation. However, in a remarkable show of ethics and responsibility, Officer Ademola respectfully declined the offer, stating that he was only doing his job and is adequately paid by the Lagos State Government.
Reacting to the report, the General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, commended Officer Ademola’s conduct, describing it as a shining example of the values LASTMA upholds—professionalism, integrity, and service to the public without compromise.
Bakare-Oki encouraged other officers to emulate the commendable actions of Officer Ademola, reiterating that the agency remains committed to promoting transparency and ethical standards in traffic management across Lagos State.
Mr. Bakare-Oki noted that Officer Ademola’s rare conduct not only strengthens public confidence in LASTMA but also reflects the renewed culture of transparency, accountability, and service excellence being institutionalized under the visionary leadership of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.
He emphasized that such a noble act epitomizes the redefined moral orientation and value reawakening currently being championed by the agency’s leadership, aimed at restoring the dignity and public trust of traffic enforcement officers across Lagos State.
The General Manager urged all LASTMA personnel to emulate Officer Ademola’s sterling example by consistently upholding the virtues of honesty, fairness, and an unwavering commitment to public service.
He reiterated the Agency’s commitment to recognizing and celebrating officers whose conduct promotes LASTMA’s institutional integrity and positively projects the Lagos State Government as a model of integrity-driven governance.
Mr. Bakare-Oki also reaffirmed that the LASTMA management remains dedicated to continuous personnel training, ethical reorientation, and capacity development—key strategies designed to entrench discipline, civility, and operational excellence in all officers.
He concluded by restating LASTMA’s unwavering commitment to its core mandate of ensuring effective traffic management, public safety, and strict enforcement of road traffic laws across the state.
In his response, Officer Muibi Ademola expressed appreciation to the new LASTMA leadership for its ongoing investment in staff development, which he credited for shaping his professional values and ethical commitment.
He also thanked the Lagos State Government for its continuous provision of essential logistics—including quality uniforms and other operational materials—which, he noted, have significantly improved officer morale and performance in the line of duty.
