Former President Muhammadu Buhari will be laid to rest in his hometown, Daura, Katsina State, on Monday in accordance with Islamic rites.
The announcement was made by his media aide, Garba Shehu, who confirmed the former President passed away on Sunday around 4:30 p.m. in London after a brief illness.
Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu has directed Vice President Kashim Shettima and Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila to travel to the United Kingdom to accompany Buhari’s body back to Nigeria.
Buhari served as Nigeria’s President from May 29, 2015, to May 29, 2023. He was also a former military Head of State from 1983 to 1985.
