A survivor told residents that his wife and children were still trapped inside the collapsed building.

Rescuers raced against time on Monday evening after signs of life emerged from occupants trapped beneath a collapsed two-storey building in Ogun State, with some of those buried under the rubble reportedly still responding to phone calls from relatives and friends.
The building reportedly collapsed on Baale Road, near Ajuwon Bus Stop, trapping an unspecified number of residents beneath the debris.
Eyewitnesses at the scene said several trapped occupants were still answering mobile phone calls, raising hopes that they were alive as emergency responders intensified rescue efforts.
An eyewitness, identified simply as Anthony, said only one male resident managed to escape moments before the building collapsed.
According to him, the survivor told residents that his wife and children remained trapped inside the collapsed structure.
“The people trapped in the building just received a phone call. It proves they are still alive,” Anthony said.
Officials of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service were at the scene coordinating rescue operations, while residents joined emergency responders in efforts to reach those trapped.
As of the time of filing this report, rescue operations were still ongoing, while authorities had yet to confirm the number of victims or determine the cause of the building collapse.
