A routine movement through a forest in Oyo State turned violent when suspected bandits reportedly ambushed the security team escorting Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho.
According to reports, the attackers, who were said to be armed with sophisticated weapons, opened fire on the convoy, triggering a fierce exchange of gunfire.
Details of casualties or injuries were not immediately available, while the circumstances surrounding the attack remain unclear.
Security agencies have yet to issue an official statement on the incident as investigations continue.
The attack highlights the persistent security challenges in parts of the country, where armed criminal groups continue to target travellers and communities despite ongoing security operations.
