Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced that Ukraine’s military and security agencies recently carried out a series of long-range strikes on Russian energy infrastructure, describing the operations as a direct response to continued Russian bombardments and what he called Moscow’s efforts to prolong the war.
According to Zelensky, the deep-strike operations targeted key energy facilities inside Russian territory in retaliation for repeated overnight missile and drone attacks on Ukrainian cities and critical infrastructure.
The Ukrainian leader said the attacks were aimed at weakening Russia’s ability to sustain its military operations while sending a clear message that Ukraine would continue to respond to cross-border assaults.
The latest escalation comes amid intensified fighting between the two countries, with both sides increasingly relying on long-range drones and missiles to strike military and strategic targets far from the front lines.
The conflict, now in its fifth year, has seen repeated attacks on energy infrastructure by both Russia and Ukraine, raising concerns over regional stability and the humanitarian impact of the prolonged war.
