Air Peace has strongly denied claims in a preliminary report by the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) that its crew members tested positive for alcohol and drugs after an incident involving one of its aircraft in Port Harcourt on July 13, 2025.
In a statement released on Friday, the airline emphasized its unwavering commitment to safety, transparency, and regulatory compliance, stating that it maintains a “zero-tolerance” policy on alcohol and drug use.
“Air Peace conducts frequent alcohol and drug tests on our crew. We have a very strict alcohol use policy that is even stricter than the 8-hour pre-flight limit set by regulations. Drug use is a NO-NO,” the statement read.
Following the runway excursion, the airline said it took immediate action by grounding the flight captain for failing to follow Crew Resource Management (CRM) procedures—not for failing a breathalyser test.
“The captain was relieved of his duties for ignoring standard go-around procedures as advised by the co-pilot. We were never officially informed of any positive test result by NSIB,” Air Peace noted.
