Two people sustained injuries on Sunday morning after a loaded mini truck transporting perishable goods overturned on the Third Mainland Bridge near the Unilag waterfront in Lagos.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed the incident in an update shared on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle. The truck reportedly lost balance and tipped over while heading inward Lagos Island* causing a temporary traffic disruption.
Emergency responders, including LASTMA officials, quickly arrived at the scene to manage traffic and coordinate recovery efforts. According to LASTMA, the victims were given immediate medical attention and have been moved to a nearby hospital.
“The vehicle involved in the earlier reported accident on the Third Mainland Bridge by Unilag waterfront inward the Island has been finally recovered,” LASTMA stated. “However, transloading of the goods is still ongoing to fully clear the road.”
Motorists have been advised to exercise caution while driving on the bridge, especially during early morning hours when visibility and road conditions may contribute to accidents.
