The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has described the newly introduced online asset declaration system by the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) as a timely innovation and a major step forward in the fight against corruption.
Olukoyede made this known on Monday, March 30, 2026, in a goodwill message delivered at the opening of a national workshop themed “Strengthening Compliance with the Code of Conduct for Public Officers in Nigeria and the Deployment of the Online Assets and Liabilities Declaration Systems (OALDS).”
The event was held in collaboration with the European Union, the Federal Ministry of Justice, and International IDEA.
Represented by the EFCC’s Director of Public Affairs, Wilson Uwujaren, Olukoyede said the digital platform would significantly enhance transparency, accountability, and public trust in governance.
“I believe that the introduction of online asset declaration signals a huge step forward in the fight against corruption, as it offers Nigeria an opportunity to enhance transparency, promote accountability, and foster trust in governance,” he said.
He noted that the new system would eliminate human interference and create digital footprints for real-time monitoring, thereby improving the verification process of asset declarations by public officers.
According to him, transitioning from the long-standing manual system to a digital platform is revolutionary, as it ensures a seamless declaration process while addressing bureaucratic bottlenecks that have plagued the system for years.
Olukoyede also commended the CCB and its partners for involving heads of service from sub-national governments in the initiative, urging them to demonstrate strong commitment to its successful implementation.
“Your personal example and commitment to this initiative will make all the difference. I urge you to embrace this innovation and drive it forward. The EFCC will be encouraged to see improved compliance with asset declaration requirements,” he added.
He further assured the CCB of the EFCC’s continued support in enforcing asset declaration laws and expressed optimism that public officers across all levels of government would take advantage of the new system to comply fully with existing regulations.
