Executive Chairman of Egbe-Idimu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Prince Idris Balogun, popularly known as Oluomo Kafata, has urged Nigerians to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ongoing economic reforms, stressing that sustainable national development requires patience and collective effort.
Speaking during a courtesy visit by executive members of the Grassroots Progressive Sustainability Initiative (GPS-I) at his office, Hon. Balogun reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to grassroots development and inclusive governance.
He acknowledged the current economic challenges but emphasized that the Federal Government’s policies are aimed at long-term growth, increased investment, and an improved standard of living.
“As a council, we understand the concerns of our people during these trying times. However, we must also recognize that meaningful progress often demands temporary sacrifice. We commend Mr. President for his bold initiatives and urge our people to stay hopeful and supportive,” he said.
He commended GPS-I for the visit and expressed excitement about their initiatives, promising to partner with them on their various programmes. He also assured the group of the council’s full support.
In his remarks, the Coordinator of GPS-I, Hon. Okedara Kolawole, congratulated the Executive Chairman and his team on their successful election.
He stated: “We are using this visit as an opportunity to seek a strategic partnership with your administration to address pressing issues affecting our party’s grassroots sustainability and community development. Our aim is to strengthen grassroots engagement and boost the party’s acceptability among constituents. This initiative is designed to foster a stronger connection with the people and ensure that our party remains responsive to their needs.”
“As committed Progressives who believe in the ideology of the All Progressives Congress (APC), we are ready to give back to the party by actively participating through our grassroots initiatives. We seek collaboration with local government stakeholders and political office holders to assess ongoing projects and provide constructive recommendations that align with the party’s ideals,” he added.
According to Hon. Kolawole, the group has established robust feedback channels to enable open communication between the party and the community.
He further noted: “We are conducting regular research and analysis to identify emerging trends, challenges, and opportunities. These insights will guide policy decisions and ensure the APC remains relevant and effective across the state.
“We also plan to organise annual training and capacity-building programmes for grassroots leaders and local government political office holders. These will enhance their skills and knowledge, enabling them to better engage with the community and uphold the values of the APC.
“Our community engagement drive will include launching initiatives that promote social cohesion, economic empowerment, and environmental sustainability.”
Also speaking, the Council’s Vice Chairman, Rtn. Tayo Ayinde, commended the group for its proactive approach and impactful initiatives.
