The Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 2,250 officers and men across the state to ensure the safety of lives and protection of critical national assets and infrastructure during the Easter celebration.
The deployment follows the Federal Government’s declaration of Friday, April 3 (Good Friday), and Monday, April 6 (Easter Monday), 2026, as public holidays by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
State Commandant, Mr. Adedotun Keshinro, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to safeguarding residents and securing infrastructure across key sectors of the economy. He noted that the personnel have been strategically positioned at worship centres, recreation parks, and other critical locations across Lagos State.
Speaking at the State Headquarters in Alausa on Thursday, April 2, 2026, Keshinro said the deployment was part of renewed operational strategies aimed at curbing vandalism and other criminal activities before, during, and after the festive period.
He explained that the command had intensified efforts to rid the state of vandals and other criminal elements whose activities could threaten economic growth and development.
The NSCDC boss added that the command would collaborate closely with other security agencies in the state to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free celebration.
Officers have also been directed to provide robust security at strategic locations, including oil pipelines, public infrastructure, religious centres, parks, and other public and private facilities across the state.
Keshinro further assured residents that the command would not relent in its efforts, as it has put in place comprehensive measures, including intelligence gathering, intensive patrols, and rapid response strategies. These include the deployment of the Special Female Squad (SFS) and the Quick Intervention Squad (QIS) to strengthen security operations.
He congratulated Christian faithful on the Easter celebration and urged them to imbibe the virtues of love, sacrifice, humility, tolerance, and compassion, which define the season.
The command reassured residents of its unwavering commitment to ensuring a safe and secure environment throughout the holiday period.
