The Niger Delta Progressive Youths Leadership Foundation (NDPYLF) has issued a seven-day ultimatum to members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, demanding a full account of the ₦350 million reportedly released to each lawmaker for constituency projects in 2025.
In a statement, the group expressed concern over what it described as the absence of visible constituency projects across most parts of the state, despite the huge sums allegedly allocated to lawmakers. It called for transparency and accountability, urging the Assembly to disclose how the funds were spent.
The Foundation specifically challenged the Martin Amaewhule-led House of Assembly to provide a detailed breakdown of projects executed or currently underway in each constituency, including their locations, scope and level of completion.
The ultimatum follows allegations that lawmakers received ₦350 million each for constituency projects without corresponding evidence of execution, a development that has sparked public outrage and renewed calls for anti-corruption agencies to step in and investigate the matter.
The demand comes against the backdrop of a prolonged political crisis in Rivers State, marked by deep divisions within the legislature and ongoing impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara, further heightening tensions in the state’s political landscape.
