Customs Management Honours DCG Tijanni Abe After 35 Years of Service
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has honoured the Deputy Comptroller-General (DCG) in charge of Human Resource and Development, Tijanni Abe, following his retirement after 35 years of meritorious service to Nigeria.
Members of the NCS Management Team gathered at the Service Headquarters in Maitama, Abuja, on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, to celebrate DCG Abe and mark the end of his distinguished career.
Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, led tributes to the retiring officer, describing him as a man whose career was defined by faith, calmness and unwavering integrity.
Adeniyi noted that DCG Abe was widely known within the Service for his habit of expressing gratitude, describing the quality as a reflection of his character.
“You are a man of integrity and integrity pays. May God increase you in wisdom and happiness, and may your years ahead be even more pleasurable. We are all very proud of you, and we wish you well,” the CGC said.
He added that the relationships and bonds built during years of service would continue beyond retirement.
Other senior officers who spoke during the ceremony described DCG Abe as a leader whose influence went beyond his official rank. They highlighted his courage, humility, sacrifice and kindness, while recalling his contributions to the growth and development of officers under his leadership.
For many of his colleagues, DCG Abe was not only a senior officer but also a mentor whose exemplary conduct and professionalism influenced those around him.
Responding to the tributes, DCG Abe expressed gratitude to Almighty God, the Comptroller-General and members of the Management Team for their support and confidence in his abilities throughout his 35 years of service.
His retirement marks the end of a career dedicated to the Nigeria Customs Service and public service, with colleagues wishing him fulfilment and continued success in his next chapter.
