Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), according to a Facebook post by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Daniel Alabrah.
Alabrah stated that the governor resigned alongside the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere, and all PDP members in the state legislature.
Diri’s resignation ends months of speculation about his alleged defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC), though Alabrah did not disclose which party the governor intends to join.
It was gathered that the announcement was made on Wednesday during the weekly State Executive Council meeting at Government House, Yenagoa.
