Veteran Nollywood actor Francis Duru has reportedly died at the age of 57, following a brief illness, according to an announcement by his family.
The family announced his death on his official Instagram page in the early hours of Friday, expressing sadness over the loss.
“We, the family of Francis Duru, regret to announce his passing following a brief illness,” the family said.
His death comes months after reports emerged alleging that he was battling a life-threatening illness, claims he had previously dismissed.
Duru was a familiar face in Nigeria’s film industry, earning recognition for his performances in Nollywood productions over the years.
His reported death is a loss to the Nigerian entertainment industry, where he built a career as a veteran screen actor.
