The controversy surrounding the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 final has escalated after the Fédération Sénégalaise de Football rejected a ruling by the Confédération Africaine de Football Appeal Board.
Senegal’s football authorities described the decision as unfair and unacceptable, confirming plans to challenge the verdict at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
The dispute stems from the controversial final against Morocco, which CAF officially awarded as a 3–0 victory to the Moroccan national team following a forfeiture ruling against Senegal. The Appeal Board upheld Morocco’s protest, citing procedural flaws in the initial disciplinary process.
However, Senegal insists the ruling undermines fairness and transparency in African football administration. The federation says it will pursue all legal options to defend what it calls the integrity and interests of Senegalese football.
With the case set to move to CAS, the final outcome of AFCON 2025 could ultimately be decided beyond the pitch, in a legal arena that may shape future disciplinary standards in continental competitions.
