President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has constituted the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections, appointing former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, as Director-General.
Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, was named Secretary of the council.
The composition of the campaign council was announced on Saturday, August 22, 2026, in a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
President Tinubu will serve as Chairman of the council, while Vice President Kashim Shettima will serve as Vice-Chairman I. The APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, was named Vice-Chairman II.
The APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, will serve as Deputy Secretary, while Hadiza Bala-Usman was appointed Assistant Secretary.
The President will be supported by a team of senior political advisers, including former APC National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande; veteran politician and former Ogun State Governor, Chief Segun Osoba; Senator Rochas Okorocha; former APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu; and Senator Florence Ita-Giwa.
Key Members of the Campaign Council
The council comprises several senior politicians and serving government officials.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Senator Bamidele Opeyemi, Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas and Senator Jibril Barau were appointed as Deputy Directors-General overseeing various zones and campaign operations.
Senator Adams Oshiomhole will serve as Deputy Director-General in charge of Mobilisation, while the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, was appointed Deputy Director-General for Administration.
Former presidential campaign operative James Abiodun Faleke will serve as Deputy Director-General for Election Planning, Coordination and Monitoring.
Faleke will work with zonal directors covering the six geopolitical zones. They include Senator Olushola Adeyeye for the South-West, Dr Ngozi Olejeme for the South-South, Senator Uche Ekwunife for the South-East, Muntaqha Rabe for the North-West, Ahmed Muhammed Ketso for the North-Central and Senator Sani Danladi for the North-East.
Legal and Media Directorates
Muiz Adeyemi Banire, SAN, will head the Legal Directorate, with Dr Liman Hassan and Babatunde Ogala as deputies.
Other members of the legal team include Attorney-General of the Federation, Prince Lateef Fagbemi; former Katsina State Governor, Ibrahim Shema; Worgu Boms; and Dr Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh.
The Media and Strategic Communication Directorate will be coordinated by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, alongside Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga and Lanre Issa-Onilu.
Tunde Rahman, Sunday Dare, Daniel Bwala and APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka were appointed Coordinating Deputy Directors.
Abdulaziz AbdulAziz, Temitope Ajayi, Arabinrin Aderonke and Frederick Nwabufo will serve as Coordinating Secretaries.
Segun Dada was retained as Director of New Media, while Solomon Arowolo was appointed Secretary of the New Media Directorate.
The council also named five presidential campaign spokespersons, led by Dele Alake. Others are Alwan Hassan, Ayobami Oyalowo, Kemi Asekun-Shittu and Adamu Fanda.
Tinubu Charges Campaign Council
President Tinubu charged members of the campaign council to work towards securing victory for the APC in the 2027 presidential election.
He also directed leaders of the various directorates to engage other party members who were not included in the formal list but were willing to contribute to the campaign.
The President said his administration had delivered on its campaign promises and urged the campaign team to effectively communicate the government’s achievements and economic policies to Nigerians.
The expanded campaign council comprises 223 members overseeing areas including finance, fundraising, election planning, security and intelligence, media, data management, education, extractive industries, grassroots mobilisation, faith-based mobilisation and stakeholder engagement.
The constitution of the council formally sets the stage for the APC’s campaign machinery as political parties intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections.
