A 10-year-old boy living with his stepparents in a community in Anambra State endured months of reported abuse at home. The cruelty continued until neighbors could no longer stay silent. Concerned residents alerted authorities.
Security operatives responded, took the couple into custody, and rescued the boy. He was reunited with his biological mother. Government agencies stepped in immediately — medical care, counseling, and other support programs began for his recovery.
A tense moment followed during the arrest. One of the suspects arrived with her infant and pleaded to keep the baby with her. The Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development intervened. For the child’s safety, the baby was placed in the care of a family member while investigations continued.
The case is a reminder: abuse thrives in silence, but communities that speak up can change a child’s story.
