Fashion designer Ejiro Amos Tafiri, in partnership with the British Council Nigeria, is set to host the third edition of its fashion industry conference in Lagos on Saturday, October 24, 2026.
The conference, themed “Fashioning a Legacy: Leaving a Mark in Time,” will hold at the British Council, 20 Thompson Avenue, Ikoyi, Lagos, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The event is expected to bring together fashion designers, creative entrepreneurs, educators, policymakers, investors and institutional leaders to discuss strategies for building sustainable and globally competitive African luxury fashion brands.
Organisers said the conference would address key challenges confronting the African fashion industry, particularly economic pressures, rapid digital transformation, inadequate infrastructure and the need for stronger business development structures.
The third edition will focus on three key areas: creativity, education and innovation, with discussions expected to explore workforce development, sustainable textile preservation, business expansion and the promotion of African cultural heritage in international markets.
According to the organisers, the initiative is designed to extend conversations about fashion beyond aesthetics and runway presentations to the business, educational and policy frameworks required to strengthen the industry.
The conference also reflects the vision of Tafiri, founder and creative director of the fashion house, who seeks to connect international industry experience with local opportunities for growth and development.
Tafiri, who has been recognised among Africa’s 100 Most Impactful People in Fashion, has participated in international fashion platforms, including Paris Fashion Week and Shanghai Fashion Week, under the Africa Reimagined initiative.
She said sustainable growth in African fashion would require more than creative talent, stressing the importance of business infrastructure, mentorship and supportive policy frameworks.
“True sustainable growth in African fashion requires more than raw creative talent; it demands robust business infrastructure, deliberate mentorship pipelines, and strategic policy frameworks,” Tafiri said.
She added that the conference, organised in partnership with the British Council, would provide a platform for established industry professionals and emerging designers to exchange ideas and develop strategies for creating a lasting economic legacy.
The initiative aligns with the Ejiro Amos Tafiri Foundation’s commitment to reducing inequality within the fashion industry and expanding access to professional knowledge.
Attendance at the conference will be free, but interested participants must register online in advance to secure participation and facilitate the distribution of post-event resources.
The organisers said the conference would provide an opportunity for stakeholders to examine practical approaches to strengthening the African fashion ecosystem and positioning homegrown brands for greater international competitiveness.
