A candlelight vigil will take place today, Thursday, March 12, 2026, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Teslim Balogun Stadium to honour the late photographer and biker, Kola Onifoto, who tragically lost his life in a motorcycle accident on March 1, 2026.
The vigil, organised by his friends, aims to celebrate his life and provide an opportunity for loved ones to come together to mourn his loss.
Kola, 35, was reportedly on his way back from Akure, where he had delivered a package to his uncle, when the accident occurred in Kara, Lagos.
His passion for photography and motorcycles had recently led him to fulfil his dream of becoming a biker. He was on his first solo ride outside Lagos when the tragic incident happened.
Described by friends and admirers as kind-hearted, adventurous, and inspiring, Kola’s untimely death has sparked an outpouring of tributes on social media.
He was initially taken to a Federal Road Safety Corps emergency unit in Ojota before being transferred to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Friends also revealed that Kola’s mother had warned him to be careful just days before the accident, a conversation he had shared on social media.
