Former Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Tambuwal announced the decision in a statement posted on early Thursday, citing the PDP’s prolonged internal crisis, leadership disagreements, and deepening divisions as the reasons for his exit.
The former Speaker of the House of Representatives said he had formally notified his ward chairman of his resignation in writing before joining the ADC alongside his supporters and political associates.
Tambuwal noted that while the PDP played a significant role in shaping his political career, the party’s internal challenges made it difficult for him to remain a member.
