The family of veteran Nollywood actress Joke Silva has been thrown into mourning following the passing of her elder brother, John Olabiyi Silva.
John died on August 29, 2025, at the age of 72, according to a post shared by the actress on her Instagram page on Thursday.
Silva paid tribute to her late brother with heartfelt words that reflected their deep bond.
“With acceptance of God’s sovereign will, we announce the call to glory of my dear brother, John Olabiyi Silva… Long John Silva… Bros B… Uncle B… my easygoing brother. Rest in peace. January 22, 1953 – August 29, 2025,” she wrote.
His passing comes at a time when Silva has been navigating other personal challenges, particularly caring for her husband, Olu Jacobs, who has been battling dementia in recent years.
The announcement of her brother’s death drew an outpouring of condolences from colleagues, friends, and fans.
Though not a public figure, John Olabiyi Silva was fondly remembered by many with nicknames like “Long John Silva,” “Bros B,” and “Uncle B,” a testament to the affection he commanded within his family and social circles.
His legacy may not have been public, but his loss is deeply felt by those who knew and loved him.
