One of the sons of controversial Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has graduated from the prestigious Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) as a commissioned military officer.
Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, confirmed the development via a post on Twitter, congratulating the young officer and wishing him success in his military career.
Sheikh Gumi has long been a polarising figure in Nigeria’s security discourse, known for his controversial remarks and perceived sympathies towards armed bandits and insurgents operating in the northern region.
Over the years, Gumi has made headlines for statements widely interpreted as tacit endorsements of criminal groups, including bandits and terrorists, drawing criticism from various quarters.
Despite his father’s contentious public image, the young Gumi’s graduation marks a significant personal achievement within Nigeria’s elite military training institution.
