Today, being the 5th day of December, 2025, I received notice of a newly instituted N200 billion lawsuit against me by Senator Godswill Akpabio, alleging defamation over claims of sexual harassment.
I am actually glad that Senator Akpabio has now brought this matter to court. The Senate Committee on Ethics and Privileges had previously refused to grant me a hearing on this issue, citing that Akpabio’s wife had already filed a defamation case against me — and therefore, they could not address a matter already before the court.
However, I was unable to proceed to court earlier, because according to Senate rules, I must first present my case before the Ethics Committee — the same committee that recommended my illegal suspension.
Now, I finally have the opportunity to prove how I was sexually harassed — and how my refusal to give in to his demands triggered a series of unprovoked and unprecedented attacks against me.
