Abdulrazak Saubana, popularly known as Savahdor, has emerged winner of the Bigi Music Competition held at the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), winning the grand prize of ₦500,000.
Savahdor clinched the top position ahead of Mohammed Abdulrasheed Ayomidimeji, popularly known as Bamz, who emerged first runner-up with a cash prize of ₦350,000, while Adenekan Victoria, known by her stage name Rhieyha, finished as second runner-up, winning ₦150,000.
The three emerging performers shared a total prize money of ₦1 million in the competition, which provided a platform for young campus musicians to showcase their talents.
The competition was one of the major highlights of the Soundcity OnTour experience at UNILORIN, which held from October 26 to 28, bringing together students for days of music, entertainment and talent discovery.
Powered by Bigi and Fearless Energy Drink, Soundcity OnTour is taking its entertainment experience across Nigerian universities, creating opportunities for students to express themselves, connect through music and showcase their creative abilities.
Speaking on the initiative, Biola Aransiola, Brand Manager, BIGI, said the platform was designed to connect with young Nigerians through their interests while providing opportunities for emerging talents.
“Soundcity OnTour allows us to connect with young Nigerians through something they genuinely love. Beyond the excitement, we want to create moments that bring students together and give emerging talents a chance to showcase what they can do,” Aransiola said.
Following its successful outing in Ilorin, Soundcity OnTour moves to Kwara State University (KWASU) from October 29 to 31, where another set of aspiring performers will have the opportunity to display their musical abilities.
The initiative underscores the growing importance of campus entertainment platforms in promoting young creative talents and providing opportunities for emerging artistes to gain recognition.
With Savahdor, Bamz and Rhieyha emerging as the top performers at UNILORIN, the search for the next promising campus music talent continues at KWASU.
