Concern is growing among residents of Esan communities in Edo state, including Ewohimi, Ebelle, Ewossa, Oguah, Igueben, and Amahor, following reports of suspected suspicious movements around the Ebelle–Ewohimi farm road area.
According to accounts shared by market women who traveled from Ebelle to Ewohimi market on June 8, there were claims of unidentified individuals allegedly sighted around a primary school in Ebelle, with further concerns that such movements may have extended into nearby forest and farm road areas linking both communities.
Following these reports, some residents say the usually busy Ewohimi, Ekpon, Ebelle road has become noticeably deserted, with reduced movement of farmers and commuters.
On June 9, a local farmer also reported an unusual absence of activity along the route throughout the day, describing the area as unusually quiet.
The situation has led to heightened caution among residents who now call for increased vigilance and stronger security presence in the affected areas.
Community leaders and residents are urging security agencies to investigate the reports and reassure the public, while advising people in the area to remain calm, avoid isolated routes where necessary, and report any suspicious activity to appropriate authorities rather than taking actions that could escalate tension.
