Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Chief Iyiola Omisore, has described Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, as a political orphan.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Omisore, a former Deputy Governor of Osun State, claimed that Governor Adeleke has been struggling and lobbying to join the APC.
According to him, Governor Adeleke and his brother, Deji Adeleke, have been reaching out to several figures, including President Bola Tinubu, to facilitate his entry into the APC.
Omisore said, as a governor, if you’re popular in your party and no longer comfortable there, you can simply move to another. Look at Orji Kalu during Obasanjo’s tenure, he left the PDP for PPA. The current Governor of Abia left APC for Labour Party. Why force yourself into another party?.
I’ve never seen a governor begging to join a party before. He’s struggling, lobbying, fighting. He and his brother have been meeting with the President, with some key figures, and even with Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State.
He continued, His party, the PDP, has lost popularity in Osun. Half of its members have joined the APC, and Aregbesola’s people have gone to the ADC. Now, he’s just trying to find where to settle politically.
Omisore advised Adeleke to speak with APC leaders if he truly wants to join the party.
If he wants to join the APC, he should come home and talk to our leaders. As it stands, neither the National Chairman nor the Osun State APC Chairman is aware of any move by Adeleke to join us, he concluded.
