Three serving members of the House of Representatives from Ogun State have failed to secure return tickets to the National Assembly ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The results of the party primaries were officially announced on Sunday by the Chairman of the State Primaries Committee, Comrade Phillips Shuaibu.
Among those who lost their bids were Hon. Isiaq Akinlade, Hon. Adesola Elegbeji, and another serving lawmaker, while several aspirants, including Adeleye, Adegbesan, Afuape, Efuwape, Taiwo, and Osoba, emerged victorious to clinch the party’s tickets for the 2027 elections.
In the Ijebu North/East/Ogun Waterside Federal Constituency, Hon. Rasheed Kashamu, son of the late Senator Buruji Kashamu, lost the contest after polling 265 votes. Hon. Joseph Adegbesan won the ticket with a total of 18,884 votes.
Announcing the results at the All Progressives Congress Secretariat in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, Shuaibu disclosed that Hon. Olumide Osoba emerged as the consensus candidate for the Odeda/Obafemi Owode/Abeokuta North Federal Constituency through affirmation, securing 45,907 votes.
In Abeokuta South Federal Constituency, Hon. Afolabi Afuape defeated other contenders after polling 12,633 votes. Tolupe Phillips scored 760 votes, Akeem Ademolake polled 270 votes, Engr. Abolore Ayodeji secured 215 votes, while Hon. Lanre Edun got 12 votes.
For the Remo North Federal Constituency, the Ogun State Commissioner for Special Duties, Hon. Funmilayo Efuwape, emerged victorious with 22,452 votes, defeating three other aspirants. Hon. Adesola Elegbeji polled 16 votes, Ayemeke secured six votes, while Kolade Adeogun got 101 votes.
In Ado-Odo/Ota Federal Constituency, Hon. Olarenwaju Basorun emerged as the consensus candidate through affirmation with 17,740 votes.
Similarly, in the Ijebu Central Federal Constituency, Hon. Rasaq Dada won the ticket with 17,459 votes, while Adetomiwa Adetilewa and Adeola Azeez polled 891 and 532 votes respectively.
In Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hon. Adijat Adeleye, secured the party’s ticket through affirmation with 25,167 votes.
For Yewa North/Imeko-Afon Federal Constituency, Hon. Gboyega Nasir Isiaka polled 15,900 votes to emerge victorious.
Meanwhile, in Yewa South/Ipokia Federal Constituency, the Chief of Staff to the Ogun State Governor, Dr. Toyin Taiwo, secured a landslide victory with 31,256 votes. Akintomiwa Gbenga and Femi Adebayo scored 21 votes each, while Hon. Isiaq Akinlade polled 28 votes.
