The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Kaduna Area Command, has commissioned the SG Hassan Fitness Hub as part of efforts to promote physical fitness, operational readiness and stronger collaboration among security agencies.
The fitness facility was officially inaugurated on Thursday, July 23, 2026, immediately after the Command’s Inter-Agency Games, which brought together officers and personnel from the Nigeria Customs Service and other security agencies in Kaduna State.
The sporting event featured football, basketball, volleyball and badminton, with participants drawn from the Nigeria Police Force, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Immigration Service.
The games provided an avenue to strengthen teamwork, healthy competition and cooperation among security agencies, while reinforcing their shared commitment to safeguarding lives and property.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Sa’ad Hassan, said the SG Hassan Fitness Hub was established to encourage regular exercise, recreation and healthy living among officers and men of the Command, as well as personnel of other security agencies.
According to him, the facility will enhance physical fitness, improve work-life balance and support operational efficiency by providing a dedicated centre for training and recreational activities.
He noted that physical fitness remains essential to maintaining discipline, professionalism and operational preparedness, adding that the facility would help sustain the momentum generated by the inter-agency sporting engagements.
Representatives of the Nigeria Police Force, NDLEA, Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Immigration Service commended the initiative, describing it as a timely intervention that will strengthen relationships among security agencies while improving the physical wellbeing of personnel.
They said initiatives such as the Inter-Agency Games and the newly commissioned fitness hub promote trust, mutual respect and effective collaboration in addressing security challenges.
The event ended with participants expressing appreciation for the initiative, describing the SG Hassan Fitness Hub as a valuable investment in personnel welfare, community engagement and the Nigeria Customs Service’s commitment to corporate social responsibility.
