The Lagos State Government has assured motorists of smooth traffic flow as rehabilitation work begins on the 20-kilometre Lekki–Epe Expressway, scheduled to last 64 days.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Hon. Sola Giwa, said the expressway will not be closed during the rehabilitation, adding that traffic control will be focused on key intersections to minimise disruption.
He disclosed that over 305 operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) have been deployed across the corridor to ensure free flow of traffic, quick response to incidents and strict enforcement of traffic regulations.
Giwa attributed increased traffic on the axis to growing commercial activities, including the Lekki Deep Sea Port, Lekki Free Trade Zone and Dangote Refinery.
He said LASTMA has deployed tow trucks and recovery vehicles, as well as drone technology for real-time traffic monitoring, to quickly address breakdowns and congestion.
Motorists were advised to use alternative routes, including the Coaster Road from Ogombo through Abraham Adesanya, and to cooperate with traffic officials during the rehabilitation period.
