Nigerian music superstar and award-winning singer, Tiwa Savage, has stirred social media conversations after revealing that she is open to the idea of becoming a second wife. The “Somebody’s Son” crooner made the bold statement during a candid chat on the American podcast Lip Service, which began trending across platforms on Friday.
During the podcast, Tiwa Savage spoke about the challenges she faces in her dating life, noting that most of her potential suitors are either much older or already married.
“I’m like a sugar mama, but I don’t want to be,” she said. “If I meet somebody who can really marry me, they are either in their 50s or already married. So, I don’t know. Maybe I can be a second wife. I think so. I could be a second wife.”
The Afrobeats icon, who is also a mother of one, emphasized that her decision would not be about desperation but peace of mind. She expressed her willingness to coexist peacefully with a first wife, adding that she values mutual respect in any relationship.
I think I can go along with the first wife, and she’s going to love me because I’m not going to be troublesome. I’m going to be going on tours, I’m not really going to stress you. I’m very respectful, I know that you are the first wife and would accord you that respect, she explained.
Tiwa Savage was previously married to music executive Tunji Balogun, popularly known as TeeBillz. The couple got married in 2013, and their union ended in 2018 amid public accusations of infidelity. They share a son together.
The singer’s honest revelations have sparked debates online, with fans weighing in on the pressures women face in relationships, especially in the spotlight.
