The Office of the Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Community Engagement for the North Central has urged Nigerians and religious groups in Kwara and Kogi states to stop holding “Ori Oke” prayer meetings in forests and mountainous areas due to rising security concerns.
The office warned that such remote locations are increasingly being used as hideouts by bandits and other criminal elements, posing serious risks to worshippers and residents.
According to the statement, continued gatherings in isolated forests and mountains could expose participants to attacks, kidnappings, and other security threats.
The office advised religious organisations and prayer groups to prioritise safety by conducting their activities in secure and approved locations that are easily accessible to security agencies.
It also called on community leaders, clerics, and residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security operatives by reporting suspicious movements and activities within their communities.
The warning comes amid renewed efforts by security agencies to curb criminal activities and improve safety across parts of the North Central region.
