The Oyo/Osun Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has reaffirmed its commitment to stronger collaboration with key industry stakeholders following a courtesy visit to International Breweries Plc in Ilesa, Osun State.
The visit, which took place on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, was led by the Acting Customs Area Controller, Deputy Comptroller of Customs Wale Moses Adewole. It forms part of ongoing efforts by the Command to deepen engagement with excise factories and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
During the engagement, Adewole stressed the importance of strict adherence to existing excise laws and regulations, describing compliance as vital to boosting government revenue and sustaining national economic stability. He reiterated the Command’s resolve to facilitate legitimate trade while maintaining firm enforcement of fiscal policies.
The Customs boss also commended International Breweries Plc for its notable contributions to the economy, particularly in job creation and revenue generation within the Command’s jurisdiction. He encouraged the company’s management to sustain its compliance standards and continue operating with transparency.
In his response, the plant manager, Emmanuel Onabanjo, expressed appreciation for the visit, describing it as both timely and impactful. He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to maintaining a cordial relationship with the Nigeria Customs Service and pledged continued adherence to all regulatory requirements.
The meeting provided an avenue for both parties to discuss operational challenges, strengthen cooperation, and explore new opportunities for collaboration.
The Oyo/Osun Area Command reiterated its dedication to stakeholder engagement, trade facilitation, and effective enforcement of fiscal policies in line with its statutory mandate.
