The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Niger/Kogi Area Command, and the Department of State Services (DSS) have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening inter-agency collaboration and enhancing security operations in Kogi State.
The renewed commitment was made when the Customs Area Controller, Niger/Kogi Area Command, Comptroller Muhammad Sani Umar, mni, paid a courtesy visit to the State Director of the DSS, Kogi State Command, Mr. Aliyu Bashir, fsc+, mnim, on June 17, 2026.
During the visit, Comptroller Umar stressed the importance of synergy, intelligence sharing and sustained cooperation among security agencies, noting that effective collaboration is essential to addressing emerging security challenges.
He said both agencies depend on one another to effectively discharge their mandates, adding that joint efforts in monitoring the movement of goods and persons would enhance national security and protect the economy.
According to the Customs Area Controller, improved coordination between the agencies would significantly strengthen efforts aimed at safeguarding the country against criminal activities and economic sabotage.
In his remarks, the DSS State Director, Mr. Aliyu Bashir, commended the Customs Area Controller for the visit and reaffirmed the commitment of the Service to maintaining a strong working relationship with the Nigeria Customs Service.
He emphasized the need for the collaboration to extend beyond the leadership level to officers operating in the field, stressing that closer interaction among personnel would facilitate seamless intelligence sharing and improve service delivery.
The visit ended with both agencies pledging to deepen their partnership and further strengthen security cooperation across Kogi State.
