Popular socialite Cubana Chief Priest has reacted to Davido’s loss at the 2026 Grammy Awards, blaming the outcome on what he described as unacceptable demands by the Western music industry.
Davido was nominated in the Best African Music Performance category for his song “With You” but lost the award to South African singer Tyla, a result that triggered backlash from Nigerian fans.
In a post shared on social media, Cubana Chief Priest alleged that powerful industry figures often pressure artistes to compromise their values before granting major awards.
“They try to break a strong man so he can do their demonic things, but he will never do it,” he wrote, praising Davido for standing firm.
The comment has sparked mixed reactions online, with supporters backing his claims while others dismissed them as speculative.
Despite the loss, Davido remains one of Africa’s biggest music exports, with a strong global following.
