The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, has reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with traditional institutions as part of efforts to enhance security and deepen community policing across the state.
Ojajuni made the pledge during a courtesy visit to the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba (Dr.) Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, Okukenu IV, CFR, at the Alake’s Palace in Abeokuta on Thursday.
The police commissioner, accompanied by members of his management team, said the visit formed part of the Command’s strategy to strengthen stakeholder engagement and foster closer ties with traditional rulers in tackling security challenges.
The delegation was received by the Alake in the presence of the Olu of Itori Land, Oba Abdulfatai Akorede Akamo, Egba General Chiefs, and other prominent sons and daughters of Egbaland.
The meeting provided an opportunity for discussions on prevailing security challenges, community policing initiatives, and the role of traditional institutions in promoting peace, security, and socio-economic development in Ogun State.
Speaking during the visit, CP Ojajuni commended the Alake for his exemplary leadership and unwavering commitment to peace, unity, and development in Egbaland and Ogun State.
He reiterated the Command’s determination to sustain intelligence-led policing through stronger collaboration with traditional rulers, enhanced community engagement, and improved public trust in the Nigeria Police Force.
The commissioner also acknowledged the contributions of Egbas in the Diaspora, noting that their continued engagement with the Ogun State Police Command and support for security initiatives had strengthened efforts to protect lives and property in the state.
In his remarks, the Alake welcomed the police commissioner and his management team, describing the visit as a demonstration of respect for the traditional institution and a reaffirmation of the longstanding partnership between the Nigeria Police Force and the people of Egbaland.
The monarch commended CP Ojajuni for the operational achievements recorded by the Ogun State Police Command since assuming office, particularly praising the successes of Operation KOSAYE, which he said had boosted public confidence in policing and improved the security of lives and property across Ogun State.
The visit underscored the shared commitment of the police and traditional institutions to fostering peace, strengthening community-based security, and ensuring a safer Ogun State through sustained collaboration.
