The Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has called on members of the City Boy Movement (CBM) to serve as ambassadors of a “new Nigeria” driven by youth participation, unity, and national development.
Uzodimma made the appeal on Friday, March 13, 2026, while receiving the patron, Barr. Seyi Tinubu, and members of the Movement during a courtesy visit to the Government House in Owerri, ahead of the CBM’s official launch in Imo State.
The Governor commended the group for its charitable initiatives and mobilisation of young people, urging them to channel their energy toward constructive engagement and nation-building.
“I am here to encourage and support you. You must remain united and use your strength to promote the message that a new Nigeria has emerged,” Uzodimma said.
He noted that while the country faces global economic challenges, it is on a recovery path, and young people must play a key role in sustaining peace and development. Highlighting improvements in security and infrastructure in the South-East, he emphasized the need for a new generation of responsible leaders.
Uzodimma described Nigeria’s youthful population as a major opportunity for national progress if properly mobilised, reminding the CBM members that “if you fail in your quest to see a new Nigeria emerge, Nigeria has failed.” He praised the Movement as “a revolution of new thinking” and urged members to act responsibly and contribute positively to the nation’s future.
He further pledged the support of the Progressives Governors’ Forum, of which he is Chairman, in helping the City Boy Movement carry the message of reforms and good intentions of President Bola Tinubu beyond the cities to the villages across the country.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, thanked Governor Uzodimma for his consistent support for youth development and empowerment over his six years in office.
“We appreciate your efforts in bringing youths together and fostering hope and opportunities,” Olawande said.
The event was attended by the Deputy Governor of Imo State, Lady Chinyere Ekomaru; Senators representing Imo West and East, Sen. Osita Izunaso and Sen. Ezenwa Onyewuchi; Secretary to the State Government, Chief Cosmos Iwu; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Barr. Nnamdi Anyaehie; the State Chairman of APC, Hon. Austin Onyedebelu; and members of the Imo State Expanded Executive Council.
The CBM entourage included the South East Director, Hon. Obinna Iyiegbu (aka Obinna Cubana); Managing Director, South East Development Commission, Hon. Mark Okoye; Managing Director of Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC), Eng. Jennife Adighije; and Imo State Coordinator, Hon. Pascal Okechukwu (alias Chief Priest), alongside other executives and supporters from the South East and South South regions.
Earlier in the day, the City Boy Movement members visited the Federal University of Technology Teaching Hospital (formerly Federal Medical Center, Owerri), donating medical equipment to the facility.
The Movement is set to empower numerous young men and women from the South East on Saturday, March 14, 2026, concluding its launch tour in Owerri, Imo State.
