The remains of former President Muhammadu Buhari have arrived at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua International Airport in Katsina State.
Transported from London aboard a Nigerian Air Force jet, the flight touched down at about 1:51 p.m. on Tuesday.
President Bola Tinubu, senior government officials, military top brass, and members of the Buhari family were present to receive the body.
Buhari, who died on Sunday after a prolonged illness at a medical facility in London, will be buried today in his hometown, Daura, in accordance with Islamic burial traditions.
He previously led Nigeria as a military Head of State from 1983 to 1985 and returned as an elected president from 2015 to 2023.
He passed away at the age of 82.
