The Benue State House of Assembly has a new Speaker, following the resignation of Aondona Dajoh on August 24, 2025. Dajoh, who cited the best interest of the state as the reason for his decision, thanked his colleagues for the opportunity to serve.
He conveyed his resignation to his colleagues in a handwritten letter, stating that the decision was taken “in good faith and in the best interest of the state.
He shared the development on his Facebook page, captioned “Let there be peace.
Election of New Speaker:
The Benue State House of Assembly has elected Hon. Berg Afled Emberga, representing Makurdi North Constituency, as the new Speaker.
Emberga’s election follows a week-long leadership crisis that rocked the Assembly.
The House is expected to continue its legislative duties under the new leadership.
