BREAKINGS:
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has reacted to the defection of his son, Abba Abubakar, from the PDP to the ruling APC, describing the move as a personal decision.
In a statement on Thursday, Atiku said political choices by family members were normal in a democracy and stressed that he does not interfere with the conscience of his children or Nigerians.
While wishing his son well, Atiku criticised the APC’s performance in government, saying his focus remains on addressing poor governance and the hardship facing Nigerians.
Abba Abubakar defected to the APC earlier on Thursday at the National Assembly, where he pledged to work for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
