Renowned Nigerian clergyman and founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide (Winners Chapel), Bishop David Oyedepo, has issued a stern message to Nigerians—particularly his congregation—ahead of the 2027 general elections, urging them to vote wisely and resist the temptation of selling their votes.
While addressing his congregation during a recent church service, Bishop Oyedepo challenged the reasoning behind collecting money in exchange for votes. He questioned whether the financial handouts from the 2023 elections still have any meaningful worth in today’s harsh economic reality.
He stated, and i quote:
“The money they gave you during the last election—is it still with you? I believe no member of this church will be foolish enough to fall for that again,” he remarked”
“+A Strong Critique of Tribal Politics and Broken Systems
Bishop Oyedepo expressed deep concern over the erosion of Nigeria’s Federal Character principle, highlighting rising tribal favoritism and religious bias in political leadership.”Today, you have a Muslim-Muslim ticket being promoted, tomorrow, it might be Fulani-Fulani, and next, governors handing over power to their own brothers… all because the Federal Character principle has been eroded’
This reflects the growing dissatisfaction among religious and civic leaders.
