December 4, 2025 — Lagos, Nigeria:
In a historic and pioneering endeavor, Johnnie Walker proudly announced the introduction of a premium, ultra-exclusive Blended Scotch Whisky collection, with a limited release of only 10 bottles in Nigeria. This rare release from the Johnnie Walker Vault is both a celebration of heritage and a bold expression of forward-looking ambition.
Launched earlier this year, the Johnnie Walker Vault is a new luxury platform celebrating blending artistry. Hidden deep beneath the Johnnie Walker Experience in Edinburgh, the Vault holds a curated selection of 500 exceptional casks from over 10 million in the brand’s inventory.
To mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary, the unveiling event in Lagos showcased a blend crafted from elusive ghost stocks—precious whiskies drawn from just six legendary, now-silent distilleries: Brora, Glenury Royal, Convalmore, Caledonian, Carsebridge, and Port Dundas. These distilleries were all operational around 1960, the same year Nigeria gained its independence.
Dr. Emma Walker, Johnnie Walker’s Master Blender, meticulously curated this limited-edition blend as a personal tribute to Nigeria. She said:
Crafting this blend has been a deeply personal journey for me — a tribute to history and a celebration of a nation’s spirit. I brought together the most precious whiskies from our rare, aged, and ghost casks, personally curated from our 1960-era inventory, to create a liquid that embodies both legacy and progress.
The release encapsulates the dynamism and resilience that define Nigeria. More than a whisky, this exceptional blend is a symbol of shared heritage, a testament to progress and a gift from Johnnie Walker to Nigeria.
This monumental release is available by invitation only to a select group of connoisseurs, solidifying its status as a highly sought-after luxury collectible. It serves as the initial phase of Johnnie Walker’s tribute to Nigeria’s enduring legacy, with more exclusive offerings to follow in the coming months.
The whisky itself is a sensory experience — a richly sweet palatewith notes of moist raisins and madeira syrup, finishing with a gentle whiff of Highland smoke. On the nose, it offers aromas of salt, toasted spices, raisins, and apricots, all wrapped in complexity and depth.
“By unlocking The Johnnie Walker Vault for Nigeria, we’re not only offering a rare product but also celebrating a progressive spirit that reflects our brand’s core value — Keep Walking,” said Joan Odafe-Ejumedia, Marketing Manager, Reserve Scotch, Diageo South, West & Central Africa.
