Veteran Nollywood Yoruba actor, filmmaker and producer, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has died at the age of 66 after battling stage-four cancer.
The actor’s death was confirmed on Sunday, August 23, 2026, with his daughter, Kira Taiwo, reportedly announcing the sad development during an emotional social media live session.
Ogogo’s death came days after his family appealed publicly for medical assistance following the disclosure that he was battling advanced cancer. His daughters had sought help from medical professionals and hospitals as the actor’s condition deteriorated.
The development has thrown the Yoruba film industry and his numerous fans into mourning, with tributes expected to pour in for the veteran actor who made significant contributions to Nollywood.
Burial Arrangements
The late actor is expected to be buried on Monday, August 24, 2026, in Ilaro, Ogun State, according to the burial arrangement announced by the Ilaro Muslim community.
Ogogo, who was born in Ilaro, Ogun State, built a long and successful career in the Yoruba movie industry as an actor, producer, director and screenwriter.
