The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has paid a historic courtesy visit to the national headquarters of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Abuja, in a move aimed at strengthening inter-agency collaboration in addressing security challenges.
The visit, described as the first of its kind, was designed to deepen operational synergy between the two key internal security agencies and reinforce joint efforts in maintaining peace and order across the country.
During the engagement, the IGP met with the Commandant General of the NSCDC, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, and members of the Corps’ principal staff officers.
Disu stressed the importance of cooperation between security agencies, noting that both organisations share the responsibility of ensuring national stability and must operate with unity of purpose.
“We must encourage one another as we confront contemporary security challenges,” he said. “We often operate in difficult environments, so sharing intelligence and working as a unified front is essential to achieving lasting peace.”
In his response, Audi reaffirmed the NSCDC’s commitment to stronger collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, describing inter-agency synergy as critical to national security effectiveness.
He emphasized that collaboration, cooperation, and coordination remain the pillars for success among security institutions, while also calling on citizens to play a more active role in intelligence gathering and information sharing.
The Commandant General referenced global examples of community involvement in security, urging Nigerians to adopt similar proactive approaches in supporting security operations.
The visit concluded with an exchange of souvenirs and group photographs involving top management of the NSCDC and the IGP’s delegation, which included senior police officials.
The development is seen as part of ongoing efforts to enhance coordination among security agencies in response to evolving security threats across the country.
