President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated former Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission Nigeria, Lamido Abubakar Yuguda, as Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
The nomination was announced on Wednesday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who stated that the appointment is subject to confirmation by the Senate.
According to the statement, the nomination was made in line with Section 8(1) of the CBN Act, 2007.
Yuguda’s nomination follows the recent appointment of former CBN Deputy Governor, Bala Bello, as Special Adviser to the President on Political Economy.
Yuguda served as Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission from 2020 to 2024 and has decades of experience in banking regulation, capital markets, and international finance.
