No fewer than 11 passengers escaped unhurt on Sunday after a private jet operated by Flybird Airlines crash-landed at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) in Kano State.
The aircraft, which originated from Abuja, overshot the runway at approximately 9:30 a.m. It was carrying 11 people, including three crew members.
Preliminary reports indicate that the incident was caused by a malfunction in the aircraft’s landing gear.
The crash forced incoming flights to divert, as landing operations were temporarily suspended due to the blocked runway.
Emergency response teams were swiftly deployed, and all passengers and crew were safely evacuated without injuries or casualties.
Airport authorities secured the affected area and initiated preliminary safety protocols.
As of the time of this report, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.
