Air Peace has warned passengers to expect flight delays and possible cancellations after one of its Airbus A320 aircraft was damaged on the ground at the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 1 (MMA1) in Lagos.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the airline said the incident occurred after a baggage conveyor belt vehicle operated by the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO) crashed into one of the aircraft’s engines shortly after it arrived from Kano on Tuesday night.
According to the airline, the aircraft had just completed Flight P47427, and all passengers had safely disembarked before the collision occurred.
Air Peace said the impact left the aircraft completely unserviceable, disrupting its flight schedule because the aircraft had been assigned to operate several domestic services in the coming days.
“As a result of this unfortunate incident, several scheduled flights will be delayed, while some may be cancelled as we adjust our fleet to reduce the impact on operations,” the airline stated.
The carrier apologised to passengers likely to be affected, assuring them that its operations and customer service teams were making arrangements to provide alternative travel options and support where available.
Air Peace also said it was working with the ground handling company and aviation authorities to determine the cause of the incident and prevent a recurrence.
“The safety of our passengers, crew and equipment remains our highest priority. We appreciate the patience and understanding of our customers as we manage the operational challenges arising from this incident,” the airline added.
The incident comes months after another NAHCO-operated ground handling equipment damaged an Air Peace aircraft in December 2025.
