Wema Bank has marked its 81st anniversary alongside the 9th anniversary of ALAT by Wema, with a renewed commitment to rewarding customers and expanding access to financial opportunities.
The bank announced that this year’s celebration, held on May 2, 2026, will focus on giving back to customers through a series of reward initiatives. These include incentives for users on the ALAT app and the launch of Season 5 of its “5 for 5” reward programme, aimed at appreciating loyal customers.
Unlike its grand 80th anniversary celebration in 2025, the bank said its 81st milestone will prioritise customer engagement and impact. As part of the anniversary activities, Wema Bank also plans to roll out a specialised customer success initiative designed to support various segments, including businesses, students, working-class women, and creatives, with tailored insights and opportunities to help them achieve their goals.
Speaking on the initiative, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Moruf Oseni, said the bank remains committed to helping customers navigate a rapidly evolving digital and economic landscape.
“The world is rapidly evolving, and digital transformation continues to create new opportunities. We want to empower our customers to adapt and take advantage of these possibilities. Our anniversary provides an opportunity to deepen our commitment to their growth and success,” he said.
Oseni added that the bank is focused on building a smarter, more secure financial future by delivering innovative banking solutions tailored to customers’ needs, while also creating platforms and opportunities that foster long-term growth.
He expressed appreciation to stakeholders, including investors, regulators, partners, customers, and employees, for their contributions to the bank’s 81-year journey.
Wema Bank reaffirmed its commitment to supporting individuals and businesses through innovative financial services, digital solutions, and customer-focused initiatives aimed at driving growth and economic empowerment.
